Eucharistic Resonances in Harrison Birtwistle’s "The Last Supper" and György Ligeti’s "Le Grand Macabre"
My Master's dissertation, "Eucharistic Resonances in Harrison Birtwistle’s The Last Supper and György Ligeti’s Le Grand Macabre" can be found here. In it, I use Eucharistic theology as a model for uniting both material and reflective significance in our understanding of the operatic event, finding that we can productively rethink both embodiment and transcendence if we approach them in terms of desire.
